My little SXSW tshirt campaign idea grew into a lovely flower.  Here’s how

Friday – meet @yellowpark at Tuttle Club / Social Media Cafe London and chat it through.  Speak together to Dave Hughes on the phone.

Monday – call Dave and place my order for T shirt; write blog post and rush round in the afternoon trying to get photos of the shirt designs to illustrate it.  DM a couple of folk asking for feedback.  None comes.  Go and meet the #SXSWm West Midlands group meetup and they are broadly interested.  Follow them back on Twitter later that night.  Pete offers to put it up on their wiki.

Tuesday – go to Chinwag site and email all those on the Digital Mission list asking if they’re interested in joining in.  Get instant reply from Tom who I know.  We talk about other stuff.  Set up a couple of ‘tweet laters ‘ for tomorrow and Friday. The lovely Emily at Chinwag sent it out to the full Digital Mission list of 60+ and introduced me to Clare who’s organising a group from the south west.

Wednesday – get some DMs from folk as the automatic tweet laters spin off.  Also a great chat with Leah from the UK Government Mission in Houston, TX who is keen to be involved.  She hasn’t got a complete list of everyone from the UK going…. ho hum.

Thursday – finally persuaded @katiemoffatt to get a t shirt.  She tried to wriggle out but I was firm.  Also @paulcarr firmly refuses to wear one.  I guess he’ll be naked then!

Friday – a couple of folk ask if they can have their shirts shipped to my home to bring over as they are already stateside – shouldn’t be a problem.  DM Dave in the morning and he has a dozen or so orders and more coming in.  I expect as today’s the deadline it’ll be the ole last minute rush job.

  • Top team, Chinwag! Looking forward to seeing what colours you chose.

Now when it comes to cultural icons I think the Union Jack boxers are the thing....
  • Hiya Rebecca, top idea indeed. The Chinwag massive have just ordered a bunch of t-shirts ready for SXSW. Just deciding whether I should get a bowler hat to really set off that *look* :-)
