The Independent’s business extra pull out from Tuesday  has journalist Kate Hilpern writing about how social media is the perfect new way to get your products “across to customers”.

What on earth does that mean?
Well her quotes are from some nice statistics and some new factoids I didn’t know e.g. Linked In is helpful for SEO.  And congratulations to Lucie Bickerdike who as a lowly AE succeeded in getting quoted amongst titans of her competitor companies.

She got hired from a Tweet.   How ‘of the moment’!

  • Rebecca,

We appreciate landing on your radar (and the Independent's).

    Looking at the big picture-

As a growing percent of our revenue transitions from product PR to corporate communications and specifically thought leadership campaigns, we've encouraged everyone to put this mentality to use in building the Agency's visibility.

As you would expect, social media is being blended into these campaigns. In many cases, our "lowly AEs" and other younger professionals are leading the SM charge because it's intuitive to them.

I'm sold on Twitter and the associated benefits but I can't say it feels exactly intuitive.

    Take care,

    Lou

  • Hey, Lou. Thanks for the comment. I do agree that there's a clear 'generational' split going on with what feels natural to younger people versus the old guard!
What I find reassuring is that (in terms of Biz dev) the old-fashioned methodology still stands. It works, it continues to work - but there are now some new tools that support the method and enable some improved insights and outcomes.

    Best wishes
    Rebecca
